Office managers ask us this more than anything else. The answer is simpler than it looks: count cups, not people, and use 8 to 10 grams of coffee per cup. Here is the arithmetic, with typical numbers for Tbilisi offices.
The formula
Cups per day × 9 grams × working days per month = grams per month. An automatic machine uses about 9 grams for an espresso or americano and slightly more for a large cup. Divide by 1000 for kilograms.
Typical offices
- 10 people, about 20 cups a day: 20 × 9 g × 22 days = roughly 4 kg a month.
- 25 people, about 50 cups a day: about 10 kg a month.
- 50 people, about 100 cups a day: about 20 kg a month.
- 100 people, about 200 cups a day: about 40 kg a month.
Real consumption varies. Offices with a visible machine in the kitchen drink more than offices where the machine is tucked away. Winter months run higher than summer. Guests add to the count in companies that receive clients.
How often to order
Coffee is at its best in the first four weeks after roasting, so there is no benefit in stocking three months’ supply. We deliver 1 kg bags on a schedule that matches consumption: weekly for larger offices, fortnightly or monthly for smaller ones. Each delivery is roasted within days of arriving, which is the main difference from coffee bought in a supermarket.
Whole bean or ground?
Automatic machines grind their own beans, so order whole beans. If your office uses a filter machine, a moka pot or a cezve, order ground coffee and tell us the method: we grind for it.
Which roast for an office
- Brazil, medium roast: smooth, chocolate and hazelnut, low acidity. The safest choice when a large team shares one machine.
- Oro, medium-dark roast: caramel and toasted nut with a thick crema. Best for cappuccino and latte.
- Strong, dark roast: bold and full-bodied. For teams that like their espresso intense.
